The powder metallurgy process is a simple and straight process but it has to be administered in a very methodical and meticulous manner. Thanks to the vast experience and dedication of the people of SSPL family. The process has been very well established and being updated day by day- the thrust being continuous improvement The process consists of the following:- A. MIXING: Mixing consists of blending of various powders, like Iron Powder, Copper Powder, Tin Powder, Lead Powder, Carbon, specialty lubricants & chemicals etc into a uniform non segregating powder mix. B. COMPACTING: We have pressing capacity ranging from 5 tons upto 100 tons as on today and have plans to increase it to 500 tons in the near future. We have adopted the best possible tool design, tool rigs and tooling system for the production at higher densities. C. SINTERING: We have highly efficient sintering facility available in the country and adopt a most innovative sintering practice which is technically superior. We have 2 nos. of 8" wide mesh belt furnaces out of which one is exclusively used for the sintering of non-ferrous based items and the other for the sintering of ferrous based items. In this way our sintering is quite economical and the life of the furnace is safe guarded. D. SIZING: We have sizing presses ranging from 10T to 100T. By the use of Hard Metal tool elements in most cases we have established a highly productive and economical sizing practice E. HEAT TREATMENT: we have a gas carbonizing and nitriding furance and an annealing (tempering) furance. Hardening and tempering procedure are different composition and for different applications or the end use. these procedure have been very clearly spelled out in our process route and methodically adopted. F. STEAM TREATMENT: Steam Treatment is a process of controlled oxidation of ferrous parts where the base metal Iron (Fe) and its oxides like ferrous oxide (FeO) are further oxidized to a more stable ferric oxide state. This process prevents susting of ferrous parts. Secondary Operations I. Machining operations like drilling, tapping, groove cutting, grinding are done in house. We have involved specialty jigs and fixtures for the above. Design Facility Latest computer aided design facility with 2D and 3D simulations are utilized for the designing of tooling elements. Tool Room Facility Our manufacturing process is backed by an in-house tool room which is capable of developing all types of die tools required for our manufacturing.
